I would like to share this article from Visual Studio Magazine, Microsoft: 64-Bit Office 2010 Not Ready as a heads up to those who are as excited as me to install Office 2010 in our 64-bit machines. It’s interesting to note that despite having a separate installer for 64-bit machine, Microsoft still recommends using the 32-bit installers. They have launched 64-bit Office 2010 and yet they are recommending otherwise. Their explanation makes sense that they still have to do more testing as far as existing extensions to Office are concerned. These extensions include 3rd party ActiveX controls and add-ins. We, in our part, also have to test our OBA’s since this is a new release.
